Dr. Shelley Wu

Dr. Shelley Wu worked at a busy Ophthalmology practice for over 10 years prior to starting a new practice in Alamo. She has 13 years of experience in the field of primary eye care, including general and specialty contact lens care, among others. She developed an interest in the study of ocular pathology during her undergraduate study of neuroscience, specifically the subject of ocular biochemical pathways.

Dr. Wu received a B.S. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, and subsequently completed her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. She completed her residency at Jesse Brown VA medical Center, followed by a one year fellowship program in Cornea/Contact Lens at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

Upon completing her fellowship training, Dr. Wu returned to the Bay Area and joined an Ophthalmology group in 2004. Dr. Wu is certified by the California State Board of Optometry for therapeutic and glaucoma management, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. In addition, Dr. Wu had published in peer reviewed journals and has co=authored a book chapter on aging of the anterior segment.

Dr. Wu served on the Alameda/Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society board from 2004-2008. In 2007, she received the California Optometry Association Young Optometrist of the year Award. In her free time, Dr. Wu enjoys, traveling, skiing, and walking with her dog Molly.
